# Does connecting pressure gauges increase the risk of refrigerant leaks?

We understand concerns around connecting to service ports and Schrader valves, particularly on older systems. However, the risk of minor leakage during connection is a standard and well-managed aspect of any F-Gas maintenance activity. Our approach ensures this risk is minimised and consistent with existing industry practices:

- **Expert Execution:**  
  All refrigerant handling is carried out by certified F-Gas engineers, who are trained to connect and disconnect equipment quickly and efficiently to minimise any potential gas loss.
- **No Increased Risk:**  
  Connecting pressure gauges is comparable to routine procedures such as pressure testing or refrigerant top-ups already performed by maintenance contractors. We have not experienced leaks of this nature during these standard activities.
- **Maintenance Responsibility:**  
  As with any service activity, the attending F-Gas engineer is responsible for ensuring their equipment and the system’s valves are in good working condition prior to connection.
