How are older systems using R22 refrigerant handled within your monitoring and ML programme?

We fully recognise the concerns around systems that use R22 refrigerant. As this type of gas (an HCFC) can no longer be legally used for servicing or topping up in the UK, our approach is designed to minimise risk while still delivering value:

  • Exclusion from Machine Learning Sessions:
Systems using R22 are excluded from current machine learning (ML) training sessions. This avoids any potential risks linked to refrigerant handling, recovery, or refill activities.
  • Continued Monitoring:
We still recommend installing Verv isolators on these units. While they won’t be included in leak detection training, they can still provide useful insights into electrical performance and overall system behaviour.
  • Future-Proofing:
When these systems are eventually replaced with modern equipment, ML training can then be introduced. This ensures your new assets benefit from monitoring and protection from the outset.
