# What type of network traffic activity is generated by Verv devices?

### When connected to a network, Verv devices perform a number of secure, cloud-integrated operations essential to their functionality. These include:

#### **Real-Time Communication & Data Exchange**

- ### **MQTT data publishing** for real-time metrics such as voltage, current, and other electrical readings
- ### **High-speed data uploads** to an **AWS S3 bucket** using the **HTTPS protocol** for processing, anomaly detection, and analytics
- ### **Firmware updates** are securely **downloaded from an S3 bucket** using **HTTPS**
- ### **Time synchronisation** is maintained via **NTP (Network Time Protocol)** to ensure accurate timestamps across all data records
